Antioxidant Content of Foods

Summary: 

A 2008 study tested beverages to evaluate which provided the highest antioxidant activity. Four tests evaluated antioxidant potency, one test evaluated antioxidant functionality, while another looked at total polyphenol content. Beverages tested included apple juice, acai juice, black cherry juice, blueberry juice, cranberry juice, concord grape juice, orange juice, red wine, iced tea, black tea, green tea, white tea and pomegranate juice. Pomegranate juice had more than 20% antioxidant potency compared to all the other beverages. The beverages with the highest antioxidant capacity in order of effectiveness were pomegranate juice>red wine>Concord grape juice>blueberry juice>black cherry juice, açaí juice, cranberry juice>orange juice, iced tea beverages, apple juice.
